Hm pdxOne episode and I’m hooked!Treat yourself to a moment of reflection and thoughts and memories interconnecting as you listen to her talk about the books she’s reading. I felt smarter just listening to it, and even if I never read half the books she talks about, it reminds me of all the good stories out there and the common human experience.

WinMorr GamesGreat listenIf I’m ever in Thomasville I know where I’m going!
-
jeifufSo funAnnie makes listening to her fun! She is just bright and cheerful. Even if you haven’t read what she’s discussing you love that she loved it.
-
slbsmithSweet podcast for all book lovers!Love this Podcast! Annie is adorable and her love for books (and Thomasville) , really shines through! Always a thrill when her mom Susie pops on with her recs! Their rapport with each other is endearing. Tune in and listen…you’ll love this be so glad you did!
-
Dana527Books for Everyone!I love that this podcast has a variety of guests with book recommendations to suit almost every reading taste. My favorite episodes are the ones with shop mom Susie! She and Annie have such a great mother-daughter rapport, and I love hearing Susie’s opinions about what she’s has been reading since my tastes are similar. The way Annie has to gently remind her mom not to reveal spoilers and the way Susie describes books that get a little too spicy brings me joy! I’m also the mom of a millennial daughter and we love to talk books, so I can really relate!

Marie the bee 60What Would Susie ReadI love this podcast. I’m especially thrilled when Annie’s mom Susie is on. I always end up with more books than I can read, not such a bad problem to have.
-
shelbyheheWarm and WelcomingThis podcast feels so welcoming for everyone and every type of reader. The new release rundown eps are probably my favorite. I love Erin & Olivia! You are all so funny when you get together. This podcast not only gives me wonderful book recommendations of every genre, but also inspires me to shop my local indie bookshops. I’m up in NC (same town as Bookmarks is in!) and now have Thomasville, GA on my list of places to visit. Keep up the great work!!
-
REP1972I’m hooked! Was looking for an independent bookstore in South Georgia and found this store and podcast. Love it! Great conversation and episode themes, and what a brilliant idea for supplemental content. I hope to check out the physical store some day!

Laurie Ann CGreat book suggestionsA great resource for reading suggestions! Annie provides details to help every type of reader find new books to enjoy. And she’s delightful to listen to!

sparty 91Thursday JoyI’ve been listening to Annie and her podcast for a few years now and I always am delighted to hear her book recommendations. When it’s Thursday and I realize that a new episode has dropped, I can’t wait to listen to it and see what joy she might bring to me for that day.

BeatyJuliaA balm in busy timesI have listened to Annie and friends for a couple years now, but I had a new appreciation for her team after the birth of my son. I am an avid reader, but postpartum the idea of reading words simply felt too big. Listening to this podcast connected me to stories and the literary world even as I was too tired to engage myself. I’m convinced listening to Annie talk about books is almost as good as reading them myself! And then, when I mustered the energy to return to reading, Annie and friends guided my choices and made me excited again to pick up a book. Grateful for yall!

PsychDoc ReadsThank you for this podcastA big thank you to Annie and her staff for this wonderful podcast. I’ve come to think of The Bookshelf as one of my local indie bookstores even though I am many miles away in Maryland. I look forward to each episode, have thoroughly enjoyed the Conquer a Classic this year, and I’m looking forward to Don Quixote and to receiving Annie’s book next year. This is such a cozy spot in my week and I’m grateful to have found all of you!
-
HnrmsuCozy, comfort and discoveryI recently found From The Front Porch and have truly enjoyed so many episodes. It's warm, cozy and real and I cannot wait to keep exploring.

JaM1622Annie and her team feel like good friends!I grew up a reader, devouring books like it was my job. Then adult life happened and I lost that joy I felt in reading. I started listening to some book podcasts to try to make reading part of my routine again, and From the Front Porch is a standout! I can personally relate to Annie so much (hello, enneagram 5) and listening to her talk about the Bookshelf, what she’s reading, and life in general is something I look forward to all week! I have gotten so many good book recommendations from Annie and her team. The new release episodes where Olivia and Erin come on are some of my favorites. You can tell that The Bookshelf highly values its people as their number one priority in the business which I love too! I have a standing item to “trip to Thomasville, Georgia and book shopping spree” on all Christmas lists and birthday/anniversary gift idea lists…so that visit HAS to be happening eventually. Thank you for all your hard work, Annie and team!
-
dpeg21Best roadtrip ever!My daughter and I have loved listening to the From the Porch Podcast for years! Earlier this year she surprised me with a trip to Thomasville! My daughter and new reader granddaughter loved coming to see the Bookshelf in person and meeting many of the wonderful staff who made us feel right at home. The podcast and The Bookshelf are so special and we can’t wait to go back! Thank you all for putting great books in our hands ❤️

ctp04Interested in IdahoI’ve just started listening to this podcast and really enjoy it. Annie is so approachable. I love her positivity. Her insights into owning a bookstore are so interesting.

BaileyJeanRobA Book Club in my PocketAs a busy teacher who loves books, sometimes it’s hard for me to find a local bookclub that works with my schedule, but thanks to From The Front Porch I now have a weekly “book club” that goes with me everywhere. Annie and friends are thoughtful, funny, and knowledgeable, and I love getting to adopt The Bookshelf as my own faraway indie bookstore. There’s something for everyone in these episodes: reviews, recaps, recommendations for the romcom, fantasy, horror, and general lit lover. Sit down (press play) and stay a while. You won’t regret it. 🙂
-
Esther GoldenbergLove itThis is a great way to find books for my TBR list.
-
firewaverEnjoyableI like this podcast, it’s not my favorite bookish podcast but I do try to catch it every week. What really detracts from the show to the point that I sometimes don’t make it through an episode, is the near constant “umm”s. Wow, are they distracting, sometimes it’s all I can hear and I stop being able to listen to the book set up. Please ladies, adjust your speech patterns because the umms are really difficult to get past.
-
Alinde90Can’t wait for ThursdaysI love From the Front Porch! I count down the days every week and Thursday doesn’t come fast enough. Annie, Erin, Olivia feel like friends with the best book talk. I enjoy everyone that comes on the show to talk books- Shop Mom Susie, Hunter, Cousin Ashley, etc. I only wish I lived closer to Beautiful Thomasville, GA so I could visit The Bookshelf- life goals!
-
rebeccafwToo many "um”sI think I would enjoy this but I can’t get past the frequent “um”s and “uh”s. Annie is interesting, but that’s so distracting! Other hosts use “um” a lot, too. I’ll have to stop listening. 😞
-
aphehnSweet time, every time!I’ve been thinking to Annie and friends for quite awhile now. And every episode brings me joy and of course, great book recs! I live in Pittsburgh but hope one day to get down to The Bookstore in Thomasville GA! Thanks again for brighten my day! Amy

snoopsat40I look forward to Thursdays!I started listening to book podcasts at the start of the pandemic. I work in healthcare and while everyone else was hunkering down, I was suiting up to go face this unknown virus day in and day out. Book podcasts became my life line - they grounded and calmed me and none did it better than From The Front Porch. Annie is so cheerful, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Obviously a chip off the old block, her parents who are occasional guests of the show are the same. I also love the March Madness episodes she does with her husband (he’s hilarious!) and those she does with her friend Hunter, my personal favorite. Staff from her bookstore also sometimes join in, they make you want to get in the car and make a visit. You can tell every person who has a hand in this show puts their all into it. It’s always a good mix of books discussed for a wide variety of readers. I don’t think there has been one episode I have missed since 2020 and credit this podcast with being instrumental in carrying me through the hardest days of my life. Thanks Annie and Team, and long live From The Front Porch!

AlsoLGI’m so lazy!I have been a faithful listener since the beginning of From the Front Porch but I’m so lazy I’ve never written a review. (I have passed the word to many of my real life friends though). I never miss an episode. I’m playing along with my first Conquer a Classic this year and revisiting Lonesome Dove with you all has been pure delight. I’ve read dozens of books recommended here. I’ve visited the Book Shelf twice, ordered online and even copied Annie and Jordan’s Southern Literary Roadtrip. You make my Thursdays worth getting out of bed! (Also Shop Mom is my favorite guest). paula bentonville, arkansas

This is a podcast that makes you feel like you’re chatting with a friend over coffee or drinks about books & life & all your favorite things. My favorites include Off the Shelf & the monthly Reading Recaps. Thanks Annie (& all your guests!) for putting on a truly delightful podcast.

scb5252Neighborly. Calming. Nostalgic. Informative. This podcast is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Reading is a new-ish hobby in my adult life, and since I’ve been trying to limit my time on social media, I still wanted to be able to hear book reviews. (& honestly miss just the chit-chat of IG stories :) This podcast fills those gaps. It feels like I’m back home, chatting with neighbors. But! It’s full of great recommendations and suggestions and theme conversation. So glad I have so many to go back and listen to. Thanks for this gift!!!!
-
awechrgifggggWonderful book podcastAbsolutely love listening to Annie discuss books with her various employees and relatives. Love that there’s no ads and it’s just focused on books. I want to visit her bookstore if I’m ever in Georgia! Keep up the good work :) Along with Sarah’s bookshelves live my favorite book podcast

jmvazquezjrIn one word…wholesome. In writing this review I was trying to think of a word that would sum up this podcast and I landed on wholesome. Annie and her family are so down-to-earth and sound like just genuinely beautiful people I’d love to get to know in real life. Our reading interests don’t always align, but I can listen to them talk about any book. Their love of reading really comes through and they just want to spread that love and I’m here for every minute of it. Can’t wait to visit The Bookshelf in person someday!
-
MeganLovesReadingThe BEST!This is my absolute favorite podcast and I can’t believe I only found out about it a few months ago! I love all of the fantastic book reviews and eagerly await Thursdays when a new episode drops. This is the only podcast I listen to at normal speed, I don’t want to miss any of it!
-
Reads02The best!Great recommendations! Whether it’s the crew or her mom—just awesome banter and reviews 😍
-
tamicnmShop DadJust listened to episode 481 with Shop Dad. Several of his favorites are also my favorites so I wanted to suggest a backlist book for him. He mentioned he liked to read about golf. My favorite golf book is “The Greatest Game Ever Played” by Mark Frost. I was reading it pre retirement and could hardly wait to get home from work to read. I think it is a book he would enjoy.
-
GumbofoundSo fun to listen to each weekAnnie B Jones and her podcast hosts make every episode so delightful! They love books and recommending them. Everyone’s tastes are different so their reviews are perfect for every genre. Thank you for a happy listen for my week! (I also recommend going back to the beginning and relistening to the older episodes to get even more great suggestions)

Nashvillian#1More for the guys, please!Love this podcast. Very pleasant to listen to. Being a Southerner living in New England, the show has become something of a touchstone for me. Annie is knowledgeable, articulate, and at ease behind the microphone. My only suggestion is that there be more content for men. If you’re interested in increasing male listenership, perhaps you could feature regular reviews and reading recommendations aimed at men’s interests. I appreciated the “Father’s Day” episode with your dad. More like that, please! I have good friends in Thomasville and have visited the store a few times. I highly recommend a trip to Thomasville and The Book Shelf. Wonderful town and a wonderful store!
-
aobrien23A favorite! It is hard not to love Annie’s thoughtful book recs, which bring books so vividly to life. What’s even better? A porch full of the accompanying voices of Bookshelf staffers, friends and family. I savor my time virtual time in Thomasville each week.
-
MctmammaLove the podcast and want to roadtrip to your storeYour podcast has become an auto listen for me - I am a librarian in Rochester NY and I love hearing your suggestions and reviews. I enjoyed the most recent episode with your dad and have added several of his picks to my TBR list! I lead a book discussion here at the Library, purchase adult fiction, and also have a library podcast. The Bookshelf team is an inspiration to me - I hope I can take a Southern roadtrip and visit Thomasville. Being a displaced Southerner your podcast feels like home.
-
JennyW_FLGatorFromWVLook forward to it every week!So enjoy each of these shows. My TBR stack grows and grows with each one!!! Also, in this heavy time globally, I am so thankful to have something to listen to that gives me great joy & something to ponder about other than the yucky stuff. Really enjoyed this episode specifically. Lost my Dad almost 2 years ago & like you, we had a wonderful relationship. He was my fixer too. I would have loved to recommend some of these books to him. 💗
-
KWinds90Variety filledI am absolutely loving this podcast because it covers multiple genres and ages. I try to keep current on adult, young adult and children’s literature and this podcast hits on all areas at different points. Can’t recommend it enough for eclectic readers!
-
Shannon CarrilloFavorite reading podcastListening to this podcast has become a part of my Thursday routine. I feel like I'm listening to old friends chatting books on the front porch.
-
Great book reviewsBest book review podcastI have been listening to from the front porch for a couple of years. Anne, Erin, and Olivia are so fun to listen to I feel like they are friends of mine. I don’t live near Thomasville but if I ever get close I’ll be sure to visit the bookshelf. They always review a good variety of books so they have something for everyone. It’s how I select my books and I’m always pleased.
-
JordynKDMy favorite book-related podcastI’ve been listening for over a year now and this is by far my favorite podcast for book recommendations. Annie and all of the other co-hosts read so widely that I end up finding recommendations for myself and the people around me. Whether you like romance, thriller, middle-grade, or general fiction, you’ll find some recs here (I would love to hear more about sci-fi and fantasy as well, but I’m still happy with the variance!). The episodes are the perfect length and the quality is great. Plus, I don’t live far from Thomasville, so I’ve gotten to visit The Bookshelf multiple times and it is my favorite indie!
-
Ellens8Something for everyoneTake a peak into the world of books through a bookshop in Thomasville, Georgia. Love the Southern vibe and the range of books highlighted. I appreciate the focus on what to read in different formats.
-
CRC churchA favorite!I love this podcast, feels like your sitting with friends. I’m a relatively new listener and caught myself listening to so many past episodes while I wait for the new one to drop. What I love most is that so many different types of readers are featured from the staff and family. I have found recommendations for myself and my two grown daughters. Todays shelf subscription episode gave me a great gift idea for those daughters 💕I’m so glad I found you all!
-
KamiJojayhawkBreath of fresh air!I’ve listened to many book podcasts and this one is very down to earth while still being completely in the know about the newest and best books. If you’re a book lover you need to check this out!
-
slp readerMarch madnessI loved listening to Jordan and Annie go through the match madness brackets! I totally support Tom lake as the winner! I really enjoyed Jordan’s reasoning for choosing certain books , particularly the book by an author who borrowed his coat.
-
barnet44Love this podcast! So enjoy listening to this podcast. Annie and her staff share so much information about books, reading and all things reading related. Also enjoy the episodes with family - her mom, her cousin, March Madness with Jordan - all so much fun. And The Book Shelf is delightful too!
-
ncnole_mom⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️As an FSU grad who now lives in NC, I hope to add a stop at your bookstore on my next trip to Tally. Love this podcast! Y’all rock!
