JOLOUGHExcellent history and nostalgiaMy current favorite podcast. Keeping me sane, informed and entertained. Amy is such a great host and I love her objective, non-judgmental approach to music. Like what you like!
-
chuckfinchLate to the party. This is a very informative podcast ! As someone who lived through the seventies and is bored with listening to decade channels, this gives a great backstory to the decade I grew up in. If you love the Superseventies Rocksite, this is a must listen!
-
K12kimFound my happy place!I stumbled on FTR. I have been looking for a way to feed my 70s music fix. And I am LOVING it! I really appreciate Amy mixing 70s music with stories and perspective. Every episode is nostalgic and eye opening. I am learning so much about the music I love. Thank you for creating this outlet for reliving the soundtrack of our lives!!

me@6593Great podFabulous pod. Thoroughly researched and engaging. If you like history and American popula culture you must listen to this pod.
-
SdmikeyLove itJust heard the 1974 episode, which was the first year I started listening to pop music on the radio. Amy does a fantastic analysis of several of the songs of that year! Especially Angie Baby. Humorous yet very insightful. I look forward to more of this podcast. Great job Amy!

gadflymrWow! Amazing! This podcast is amazing. I spent the last 4 hours binging it. If you love all things 70s, don't walk, run to this podcast.
-
PinebeersWow!No need for this 70-year-old to continue digging through podcast after podcast this week to find anything remotely me. I adore SYSK and Ologies but after binging those, now I wait for new episodes. But this, your intelligent and well-researched commentary on the topic closest to my heart, s my favorite by far. It makes me feel less alone in my love for that time - for I am a child of the 70s! I wish we could go through a similar hard but conscious rebirthing today. We're stale and drowning and our mass spirit pales against that of the 70s. I am drinking in your offerings as I would cold stream water from my cupped palms on a mountains hike. Your work is balanced, fair, and, well, perfect. Carry on! Health and peace, Pine

Sp sweeneyIf not for you..I was nostalgic this morning and popped in because I am a typically GenX middle class kid, rode in the back of a Ford Pinto with awesome 70’s am radio soundtrack on the way to soccer practice in a great era of music. I just finished the Olivia Newton-John episode and my emotions and are everywhere. Its remarkable how good she was, embarrassed how dismissive I was of her (and most)pop music all these 30+ years. Same as Carpenter’s etc. always (secretly! because I was so cool back then, because Kiss and Aerosmith) loved it. I saw Grease so many times (5+!) because I wanted to be Travolta like everyone did back then. Olivia will always have my 9-12 year old heart. I have a lot of episodes to get through. This is knowledgeable and extremely well researched podcast. The names and details are just wonderful.

mtrutanGreat Podcast About the ‘70’sI just discovered this podcast that I have found well researched and informative as each episode talks about a different music topic of the ‘70’s and how it relates to what was going on in the world at that time. Whether you grew up in the ‘70’s and want to reminisce or simply want to learn about the ‘70’s this podcast is for you!
-
SandbumGreat podcastI’m so glad I found this great podcast. So entertaining, and I love how Amy tells the happenings that were going on as well as the great music in the 70’s. My husband and I listened to almost the whole series on a recent road trip. Thank you!!
-
MusicMoviesNewsWell researched and understated but Great!I like the low key tone here but highlighting of great songs. Amy is not shy about focusing on songs that make “cool” people roll their eyes. She really knows her 70’s history and makes connections that may not be obvious. This is just what I was looking for in a podcast. Not glitzy, but analytical and solidly researched. I will support this ad-free podcast financially. Give it a listen and soak in the trip down memory lane.

earpainA great find!I’ve been looking for an entertaining and knowledgeable podcast for awhile now and have been constantly disappointed with my search. Finding this podcast has been a joy! Music, commentary, facts and no pointless banter from hosts thinking they are the funniest thing on the airwaves. Amy does a great job with her podcasts, not too deep, but enough history to make you feel you learned something. Try it, it’s worth your time.
-
Ninja quernAmazing PodcastI’ve been listening for weeks and can’t get enough! This is great education for people who were not alive during this time period as well. It gives great insight to how much impact this time period has on music today.

JwmdmusicAwesomeAs a true Child of the 70’s this is one great show.

STKCnyc/LonMy dog is going to be happy because I’m going to walk everywhere listening to this.I’ve never got the appeal of podcasts, (I felt like the only one) but I found this when I had a half-hour walk and decided to give one a try, searched for 70’s music or something and found this. Listened to the “Women Who Rocked The 70s” and was immediately hooked. I now get it. Am bringing headphones on all walks and will take the dog out more. I love the facts about the music and the snippets of music to illustrate the facts. I was hoping to drag it out a bit, but I keep finding excuses to listen. I’ll probably be done with the whole lot before next week.
-
AljasperEntertaining and EducationalI’ve only recently discovered this podcast, but I’m really enjoying it. It is a welcome blend of history with a celebration of the important music and its artists from the 70s. This is exactly the type of seminar I wish was offered at my college or high school. The host is smart, thoughtful, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about this era.
-
ATLartistyahAwesomeGreat stuff, Amy is super smart and knowledgeable. Each episode feels like a pop music history class- your favorite class that you never want to miss and don’t even mind waking up early to go to! 😊 my family and I binged the black power, funk, ladies who rock, reggae and FM radio episodes all in one day on a recent road trip. Thanks Amy for all the great work!!
-
11monstruoLove this podcast but gen x’ers only? Why do you only refer to gen x’ers as listeners of 70’s music? I was a full on teenager from 1974 to 1981 and I’m a boomer. I’m sure boomers make up a huge part of your listeners

Toodles777Love this podcast! So much history behind songs I love! Has also opened my eyes to songs I’ve never heard before. Would love an episode on Fleetwood Mac!
-
LSJ-22LSJ-22Well-researched with fresh perspectives. I graduated high school in '77 and am having a blast learning about all the music I heard in those formative years (and some I didn't happen to hear). Love that she plays long cuts to provide examples - not little snippets like on so many music podcasts. The narrative and delivery is a bit professorial but, hey, we are here to learn (and I am a retired professor, so works for me). Keep the episodes coming, Amy. Love it.

Marnick Gso much fun to listen to!i love this podcast and look forward to new episodes! it’s presented so well, props to you!
-
lovebeutjExceptional !I found this podcast a while back and have been a loyal listener. Once I thought "I'm not so interested in the topic but I like the podcast so I'll listen anyway." I don't do that now. Amy give such great insight and information that fills in the blanks of things I've often wondered about through the years - even things I didn't know I wanted to know! While waiting for her to drop a new episode, I go back and listen to older ones. I always pick up more information . I only wish the podcast was longer and/or more frequent! I love that Amy "mutes"herself to get into the clips she plays. This always makes me laugh because I would do the same - a mini off-air party! This podcast makes us see how times have - and have not - changed through the years and it's one thing that really stands out about the show.

PerryKathleen#1 Music Podcast Out There, Finally!!I’ve been searching for a music podcast like this for 4 years now! One I FULLY enjoy the entire time. This is it! Others, like Disgraceland, are very good but lack the advanced level of in depth knowledge, fact based presentation, array of topics, and basically the entire format of this podcast. Especially the MUSIC CLIPS!!! She plays generous lengths of the song clips that are being discussed and has the most interesting insights into the lyrics, instrumentals, session artists included, comparisons with other music, and more. 🤩😊🥰💃
-
Mel C5Great podcast!Love it, so glad I found it, it's awesome to listen to!

Miles in MaineTo: For the Record 1970’sI grew up in Maine in the 70’s. Listening to your podcast brings back so many forgotten memories of the temperature of that era that I was aware of, but didn’t fully understand as a kid in elementary school. I really love this walk down 70’s street you take me on and can’t wait to hear what you have for us next, plus you have such a nice refreshing voice I can listen to you all night. Thanks so much again! YOU ROCK! Miles, a boat builder in Maine.

Lindyc5Just What I Was Looking For!I just listened to my first episode, the one about Southern rock. This podcast is exactly what I’ve been looking for, a deep dive by an educated host who cares more about content than showcasing herself. The examination of the music in a historical context with a balanced, in-depth look at lyrics and musical influence are the things I think about when I enjoy my beloved 70s music but can’t fully develop on my own or articulate. I can’t wait to hear more.

maryg360Part Music, Part History, All AwesomeI love this podcast! I recently discovered it and have binged the whole catalog. It is very well researched and the host really knows her stuff. Great job!! Excited to hear more episodes!

Messed-Around JimMultiple SeventiesgasmsI’m about Amy’s age (born in 1965) and like Amy, I’m a dedicated Seventiesologist. But she not only has done the scholarly research, she has a storyteller’s gift for connecting narrative dots and an infectious passion for everything about the decade. I think that passion is specific to those of us of that age, as we grew up knowing the decade in its granular details — 45s and Bubble Yum and Wacky Packages and velour shirts and Columbia Records & Tapes and bikes with banana seats and the like — without having the connective tissue to properly put these things in context and perspective. That came later ... and thanks to people like Amy, it’s still coming. Thanks for being a great cross-country road-trip shotgun rider, Amy. Jim

Gemini62167Love It!!!!I absolutely love this podcast. I grew up during the 70's so hearing details about the songs I love keeps me glued. The podcaster (sorry don't know the name) is a highschool teacher and sounds like someone you are sitting down and having a conversation with. Keep up the great work!
