bennett_DinosaurGood storyteller, but needs to get off the Kool aidHave always loved his wit, but may need to touch some grass, or find a different source for his history lessons for “anyone over 60”

Gbw 1955Wonderful to hear Garrison againIn a very dark time such as this, it was healing in many ways to hear Garrison’s voice again. His take on the world today is spot on. To those that say that he’s too political don’t understand that this is more than politics, it’s about our survival as a country
-
Time2spareDon’tNot listening to your political views any more.
-
bevamarkD Day was 1944Funny but politics is insufferable.
-
fireplug9keep your politics to yourselfVery disappointing to have to listen to Garrison's political views. I don't agree with his politics at all and if he didn't bring them up then I wouldn't have felt compelled to leave a critical review and you wouldn't have to read my opinion. Very sad to see what is happening. There was a time in this country when politics did not poison absolutely everything and we didn't spend 24 hours a day talking about it ad infinitum.
-
Gr2323Refreshing and poignantGreat to hear this iconic voice again! Still got it! Thanks!
-
NeisanRIconic storyteller, idiotically religiousNeed to bring back lake wobegan
-
cuznjamesThank YouThis podcast is an international treasure. Thank you for bringing it back. This is place I used to go to feel warmed and welcomed. Unfortunately, this podcast has taken a sharp left with many of its episodes and a conservative such as myself does not sense the hospitality that once was here. But I will never forget Mr Keillor as the one individual that taught me to be attentive to the humanities because they humanize. Thank you.
-
SLCMBAlways entertainingI love his sense of humor. I wish that A Prairie Would get released like a podcast. That would be amazing!
-
Saskat-SeismoOur country’s greatest storytellerI’m a devoted fan of all his work. A lifelong legacy of American heartland stories. I’ve listened to his Lake Woebegone tales over & over and I never tire of entering this imaginary world which always feels like going home. I’m so glad he continues to spin ideas and images to enrich our souls. Hooray for Garrison… Thank You!
-
bob0828EnjoyableAlways make be chuckle!

Uffda5Garage LogicLoved your interview on the Garage Logic podcast. Listened to all of it and loved every minute. Will try to catch one of your live appearances. Would love to listen to PHC shows from years past if available on You Tube or similar service. Thanks for making yourself available.

Retiree in Greenville, NCNeed moreJust discovered this podcast. The satirical humor is desperately needed today. We need more, more , more episodes. Please!
-
MadfarmerARAll earlier episodes?Where did they go? Was listening to them and they are gone.
-
Former stonerUhhh“Getting high lowers alertness. Go back and read Beat poetry written in dim smoke-filled rooms and most of it is less interesting than the average computer manual.” Stick to talking about writers, Garrison. Cultural criticism is not your strong suit.
-
Integrity rulesDisappeared!?What happened to the past few years of recordings. I was catching up, in April 2021 :-o

Silly Old PooLove your podcast!I’m so glad you’re back! I love starting my day by laughing at our human foibles with you. Please keep it up!
-
Teddy NicholasPlease keep making theseI have been listening to TWA since my college years ago wayyy back when dinosaurs roamed the earth before Twitter even came about—and it fell off my radar because life happens, you know? But I rediscovered it a few years back and it still hits me on some level that no other podcast has except for maybe The Moth and Poetry Unbound. I need poetry and what I deeply love is GK’s voice and readings of these poems. Please keep making these because it keeps me going in so many ways. This is so important to me that I am even taking the time out of my laughably not-busy schedule to sit uncomfortably on my Goodwill bought sofa in between bites of the dinner I prepared for myself and my elderly mother to write this review just to show how desperately I depend upon this podcast! If it wasn’t for this podcast, I probably wouldn’t even listen to podcasts! So please please please update this.
-
RowlandGSanity in a Crazy World!I love hearing this gift from Mr. Keillor everyday! So interesting and a wonderful perspective on writing and history!
-

AMTK207A daily traditionThank you for what has been a morning tradition for decades. Whether it is an anecdote to refresh my connection with the human condition, recounting significant historical events, this ‘cast gives me an excuse to sit back and listen on a daily basis. While apparently insignificant, this break-from-the-routine routine is a helpful way to re-focus and make it through the rest of the morning. BW,DGW&KIT.
-
RoyWagnerSo Glad to …So glad to be able to listen to these again as a way to start each day. A soothing, short learning lesson and poem every day.

Older and working on wiserJust discovered you are back!So happy to again hear your insight and fresh perspective on literature, life and laughter. The introduction of authors, poets and other literary works enriches my life. I missed your mellifluous voice and life perspective. I had been listening to your program since my sophomore year in college (a long, long time ago. Looking forward t catching up via previous podcasts.

Sarita7981Incessant adsI’ve enjoyed Garrison for decades , but the incessant 90 second alcohol ads at the end of each episode are a brash turnoff. Can you please tone back the ads a little please ?
-
alopecianstarNormal speed?I love writers almanac but recently I noticed the speed of your voice sounds like the sound person is doing a disservice. Please kick it back to 1.0 The new voice sounds like an attempt to make you sound higher energy. It sound to me like you’re working towards Alvin the chipmunk.
-
a certain ageA Mark Twain for our timeNever stop making us think/laugh.
-
Bella Robin CaivanoGlad Garrison is backIt has been a long wait getting back to The Writer’s Almanac for me….this was my accompaniment as I prepared my evening meal, relishing every word of Garrisons smooth steady voice as I quietly listened to others biographies and poems which inspired me to be a better writer.
-
NicknameNowTakenOld dog can still hearWonderful and delightful, a continued catalyst for introspection. Thank you for the podcast and the refreshing poetry reading style.
-
RJShiversBest start to the dayTWA is my start to every day. A sure anchor no matter the times - the rest of the day may bring. I am so grateful to Garrison for his inspiring launch to each and every day. Jewels of history, thoughts to live by, and wonderful poems! Again., Thank you Garrison - for your daily gift to us all. - Rich Shivers, Atlanta, Georgia
-
Brian IssaquahAn Absolute TreasureEvery day an absolute treasure—a gift of great erudition and real humanity. Thank you.
-
Wilkus of Spectrum FinancialI love Garrison Keillor’s work but....There once was a writer who spoke on the radio to lots of folk he wrote on the wall and had a great fall for he was insufficiently woke
-
estaban duplantierThe voice that brings home to wherever I hear itOne of the podcasts I can’t go a day without hearing. In an instant, I am home again at the sound of his voice. And I always learn something I didn’t know about. How can you go wrong with that?
-
Joe the GuideFear of lossI could not get today’s episode (April 21, 2021) and I hope this is a glitch that will be over by tomorrow. I look forward to the Writer’s Almanac each day. Outstanding and always a good way to start my day.
-
TorchminiDecades of EnrichmentI’ve done my best to hear this every day for many years. I’m glad to have found it again on the Podcast scene. Garrison has a perfect voice and tone for poetry and he makes the most out of it each time these little jewels come out.
-
AWsomeAnnArboriteA bright few moments each morning! So happy to learn about this podcast—Billy Collins mentioned it on his live get together on Facebook. (And learned about Mr. Collins activities from Diane Rehm’s podcast!) I always listened to Prairie Home Companion on NPR and now find Garrison’s voice very calming during this “Year of the COVID.”
-
20digitsNo better way to start a dayFascinating facts and an unfamiliar poem , a true pickup in the early morning dark
-
Kingwood DocThat voiceAmong the best 5 minutes of every day: some new literary facts, a new poem, but always the melodic (bass) tones and lilting cadence of Mr Keillor. Thank you for helping combat 2020 depression and angst.
-
IririrkfWhat a treat!I have missed the Prarie Home Companion dearly, like so many others. Every episode of this podcast feels like visiting an old friend. Thank you for sharing your gift, Garrison!
-
StourleykCarefully curated and read wellAnd we are here as on a darkling plain Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight Where ignorant armies clash by night.
-
dbawdenA bird does not sing because he has an answer. He sings because he has a song.I ran across quote in a garden at the Lady Bird Wildflower in Austin: “A bird does not sing because he has an answer. He sings because he has a song.” Thank you Garrison for continuing to allow us to hear your voice and the poetry you share. You were maligned and chose to fly from the chaos to this perch rather than be further abused. Thank you for willingness to share your song. We desperately need to hear it every day.
-
vpl 52Keep them comingThank you for this gift. I start my day with this podcast so glad it has returned. Keep them coming
