This is one of the better shows I’ve listened too. It’s intense and emotional. The acting is great along with the sound effects. There are triggers mentioned by other reviewers that catches you at times. I listened to this in one evening because I couldn’t wait to hear the next. Bronco 👏🏾to the cast.

I wanted to like this podcast based off the premise but it was a definite miss. Starting with the good: The voice actors and sound effects were great. The bad: The plot. Made it to episode 5 of 8 before I called it quits. You have no investment in the main characters. Between the friends who are just bullies/sadistic to the FMC who just goes along with all of it even when she is the target just because. For her to have been such an integral part of the group she definitely just lets everyone lead her around like a dog. The superpowers don’t get brought up until the 5th episode at this point you lose interest in what’s going on. The FMC is portrayed as this damsel in distress at the benefit of her sadistic friends. Overall I liked the idea but it fell flat, one dimensional characters and slow story line even though the podcast is short.

The writing, the acting, the sound, the effects, and OH THE TRAUMA, *chef's kiss*. The story is intense, fast, and disturbing. Episode 1 presents a high casualty mass shooting. From there, the story leads into darker levels of discomfort. Heed the show's trigger warnings. Some other reviews state that the main character Paige is "unlikeable." Here's another take. She's debilitated by PTSD and by guilt she doesn't deserve. The cruelty she endures is unsettling (and hard to listen to). Under the scars and callouses of trauma, Paige has a heart. She cares. Well-developed and well done, she's alright in my book. I likely will listen to this series again.

Just a massive trigger warning that the plot centers around a school shooting with mass fatalities. Would’ve been nice to see an official trigger warning on it. Every character was unlikeable.

Had to give up at the beginning of episode 3. I couldn’t get hooked and the actors limited vocabulary makes me feel stupid that I’m actually trying to give it a shot. Don’t get me wrong, the voice talent is great, too bad the dialogue is so uninvented. I’m actually embarrassed now to admit that I tried listening to it for so long. If you’re looking for an action/thriller/suspense… this is definitely not it.

This show is great! Blasted through all eps in 1 day. Really impressed and gonna tell as many folks about it as I can.

Started out very promising but then the sound effects completely overwhelm the narrative experience. There are so many squishing gushing splattering screeching sounds due to the use of psychedelics and it just totally overwhelms everything else and makes it hard to follow to. Had to fast forward through the last couple episodes.

After 2 episodes I can't find anything worthwhile in any other characters than the protagonist to such a degree that I would take them all, put them in a locked room, give them guns and let them kill each other. Ifound it unlistenable.

Literally could not stop listening. I went through all the episodes in a day, was not expecting to do that! Really compelling and the binaural aspect is cool.

I love this podcast!! The story line is new and fantastic. The characters are interesting.

This is a real podcast - not a pitch for a TV show or an audio book. It’s a wild, crazy, and satisfying bad trip!

Good lord it costs. Deeply, deeply disturbing. Like, week-ruining, month-ruining disturbing.

Highly recommend this very well produced show. Get lost in the world and can’t believe 30 minutes have already passed. Must listen!

Good acting and decent plot, but a warning for those sensitive to school shootings and descriptions of those types of events might be a consideration.

I’m giving it 5 stars bc this is more of a personal thing but they either need to make the episodes longer and get more plot into them or release the whole season at once. But acting,plot, production all outstanding

I have never before listened to a fictional drama podcast where I hate ALL of the characters. Bravo.

2 episodes in and I NEED more. I listened to the first 2 twice just to get a fix. This creation is a work of genius that has me wishing there were hundreds of episodes to listen to.

Wasnt this literally an xfiles plot? A small town suddenly overcome with an epidemic of extreme violence? I guess the writers are hoping theyve hinted subtly at it but it is a bit more like a hammer to the face than a hint.

This podcast is SO GOOD and so well-designed in every level that I was angry I had to wait another week for a new episode.

Alright, I’m hooked! Come on next episode!

I’ve been waiting for a long time for The Elmwood Strain to come out! Boy was it worth the wait! I’m drawn in by the setting and the tragedy at the school. Can’t wait to see what happens to Paige! Looking forward to the next episode! Great audio also!!

This is the first scripted fiction podcast I’ve listened to. I usually stick to documentary and true crime podcasts for entertainment. I was amazed at how smart dialogue and sound could develop characters and start to unfold their stories in just one episode! I’m impressed...and hooked.
